ADUN Student, Moses Terhemba Ape, emerged Overall Best Winner of the Ooni of Ife’s Royal African Young Leadership Forum Awards (RAYLF) 2022 for Academic Excellence

Moses Terhemba Ape, a student of Cyber Security in Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), owned by the Nigerian Navy,has been crowned as the overall best Nigerian student in Academic Excellence Category by the Ooni of Ife at the third edition of the prestigious Awards Ceremony held on May 21st, 2022 at the Obafemi Awolowo University Auditorium in Ile Ife.

Moses is a 400-level Bachelor of Science student studying Cyber Security, a 21st-century innovative programme offered by the University. He is currently the University’s overall best student with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.96.He is the founder and President of the Cyber Security Club at the Institution.

He beat other students in a nationwide examination to emerge Winner.

It was indeed a memorable occasion for the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, who personally took turns to present awards to Moses and some academically extraordinary young Nigerians in recognition of their sterling achievements.

The Vice-Chancellor of Admiralty University, Professor Paul Omaji, was a special guest at the event, He led a high-powered delegation from the University to witness the grand occasion that paraded top dignitaries in Nigeria, Africa, and the diaspora.

The theme for this year’s award was centered on excellence in education which coincided with the motto of Admiralty University. The award is a brainchild of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye, whose charismatic personality is embedded in youthful empowerment with a vision to raise young world leaders that will make an impact in their generation.

The three-day event began on Friday, May 20, with the arrival of eminent guests at Ife Grand Resort (IGR), This was followed by the RAYLF media interaction and photoshoot, medical outreach at the Ooni’s palace, and a luxurious dinner with the Ooni of Ife to round up the colorful welcome ceremony.

On May 21, the Awards Ceremony was preceded by the Innovation pitch competition by the RAYLF campus society. And there were a hundred awardees in attendance at the ceremony.

Admirable Moses Ape was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the RAYLF alongside other 99 award recipients at the colorful event.

In his remarks during the awards, his Imperial Majesty reemphasized the vision of founding the awards being the dire need to focus on innovation and technology as a vista of opportunities for young Africans in the emerging world economy that is based on technological advancement.

“We must not lose sight of the central role of our young people in fostering the Continents’ prosperity for the next generation, as the future belongs to them. They remain the pillars of Africa’s fourth industrial revolution and global competitiveness, and we must urgently lead them to find a common deep-rooted devotion and build a blueprint of inclusiveness that sustainably promotes their greater equities in Africa’s projects through governance and leadership, technology and innovation, entrepreneurship and empowerment, creative culture, and academic excellence, which are the five pillars of my royal mission”. He stressed.

The Vice-Chancellor of Admiralty University of Nigeria, Professor Paul Omaji, presented a special Admirable gift to the Ooni at the ancestral palace during the cocktail, He extolled the innovative foresight of his Imperial Majesty for creating a Platform that will be a springboard to nurture future leaders, He applauded Kabeyisi’s vision that conforms with ADUN’s Vision being a Global University Educating Luminary Leaders like Moses Terhemba Ape to make exploits in their generation.
