Prof. Dili OFUOKWU, a B.A. (Hons) English graduate from the University of Ibadan in 1976, began his academic career as a Graduate Assistant at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria and rose through the ranks to become Professor of English at the university after earning his MA, PGDE, and Ph.D. He held several posts, including Head of Department, Assistant Dean (PG), and Deputy Dean.
He has over 40 papers in renowned journals on Applied Linguistics, English Pedagogy: Second Language Learning and Acquisition, ELT, TESL, TESOL, and Language Endangerment at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has also instructed students in Rhetoric and Writing. As part of his responsibilities, he has supervised approximately 30 master’s and doctoral students.

He has served as External Examiner for various universities including, University of Maiduguri, University of Jos, Benue State University, Bayero University, Kano,  University of Abuja, etc.

Prof. Dili Ofuokwu is a member of various professional associations:  Linguistic Association of Nigeria (LAN), English Language Teachers Association of Nigeria (ELTAN), English Studies Association of Nigeria (ESAN), etc. He was also a Content Expert to the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Centre (NERDC), Sheda–Abuja and an Editorial Consultant to the National Assembly (NASS) on Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Desk.

He joined the services of Admiralty University of Nigeria, Ibusa in 2021. Until his appointment as the Acting Vice Chancellor, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences of the University.
