Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) today welcomed Professor Christopher Bankole Ndubisi Ogbogbo as its new substantive Vice-Chancellor in a formal ceremony held at the Vice Admiral Dele Joseph Ezeoba Multipurpose Hall.
Professor Ogbogbo arrived at the university’s Ibusa campus and was warmly received by Acting Vice-Chancellor, Rear Admiral M.M. Abdullahi, and the university management team.
The ceremony, which commenced at 12:00 PM, featured Rear Admiral Abdullahi acknowledging the contributions of outgoing Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dili Ofuokwu, and extending a welcome to Professor Ogbogbo. He emphasized the importance of staff support and collaboration in achieving ADUN’s strategic goals.
Registrar, Commodore Isaac M. Mankilik (Rtd.), introduced Professor Ogbogbo, highlighting his distinguished academic career and achievements. With degrees in History and Law from the University of Ibadan and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and fellowships in prestigious organizations such as the Historical Society of Nigeria and the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Professor Ogbogboโs credentials were met with enthusiastic applause.
In his inaugural address, Professor Ogbogbo expressed his gratitude and declared, “The storm is over, and calmness has come.” He pledged his commitment to collaborative leadership and a vision to elevate ADUN as a leading center of academic excellence in Nigeria and globally. He emphasized his appointment as a call to service, driven by a passion for contributing to the universityโs development.
The event was attended by key university officials, including Rear Admiral M.M. Abdullahi (Deputy Vice-Chancellor), Commodore Isaac M. Mankilik (Rtd.) (Registrar), Dr. Mrs. Onyia Gladys (University Librarian), Captain HY Aliyu ( Bursar), faculty members, and staff.
Professor Shilgba delivered the vote of thanks, followed by closing prayers and group photographs. Professor Ogbogbo and principal officers then toured the campus.
This significant event marks the beginning of a new chapter for ADUN, with a renewed focus on collaboration, academic excellence, and community engagement under Professor Ogbogbo’s leadership.
A formal inauguration ceremony will be held on March 12, 2025, at the Ibusa campus of Admiralty University of Nigeria.
