4TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY

Admiralty University of Nigeria has held its 4th Matriculation Ceremony at the University auditorium on the 23rd of April, 2022.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Omojo Omaji, declaring the ceremony open, He revealed that ADUN was destined for greatness, saying that the objective of the University was to expand the frontiers of knowledge in various unique specializations to use university education as a tool towards development and enhancement of human well being.

He charged the matriculants to meet all standards expected of them in their academic pursuit.

“Fix your eyes on the purpose of being in the University, make sacrifices for your future, humble yourself to become luminary leaders that will wine and dine with Kings and Queens, You can never be stopped unless you stop yourself”, he stressed.

The VC broke the good news of 100% success in the accreditation of all 12 Programmes by the National University Commission to the delight of Parents, Guardians, Matriculants, and Guests at the Ceremony.

The Ceremony featured a Matriculation Lecture titled: “The Invading Force of Science and Technology and the Complementary Role of Entrepreneurial Education in the New World”

While delivering the Lecture, Professor (Mrs.) Oyedunni S.Arulogun, of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, University of Ibadan said: “As of April 19, 2022, as at 1:00 pm, the poverty index of Nigeria shows that 83,005,582 Nigerians (representing 39 percent of the world) are living in extreme poverty with 53 percent in rural areas of equal proportion of males and females.

She described the trend as a bad omen for a country like Nigeria and stressed that “by our economic planning, the target escape rate is 0.3 per minute but the reality is -3, hence the very rate is increasing in Nigeria daily”.

The don emphasized that entrepreneurial education is” conceived as an educational system that seeks to foster self-esteem and confidence by drawing on individuals’ talent and creativity while building relevant skills and values that assist students in expanding their perspective schooling and opportunities beyond  their studies”.

She advised matriculating students to face fears, set goals and seek mentors who will help them excel as students.

The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, who was ably represented by the GMD/CEO of Nigerian Navy Holdings, Rear Admiral SS Lassa, commended the Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa for the donation of a 120-room accommodation facility at Sapele for the Admiralty University of Nigeria, ADUN, for students commencing academic session in the Faculties of Engineering & Technology, and Maritime Studies.

Admiral Lassa was ecstatic that the matriculation ceremony was special because it was coming in an academic session when the University will be graduating her first graduands into the workforce of Nigeria in particular and the world at large.

“The Nigerian Navy is thus happy to be associated with recent developments in the affairs of the University”.
