Professor Leonard Shilgba is a Japanese-trained mathematician, Monbusho scholar, and holds a PhD (2005) degree in Mathematics, specializing in Dynamical Systems (Differential Equations), from the Graduate School of Environment and Information Sciences, Yokohama National University (YNU), Yokohama, Japan, after winning an award by the Japanese government, where he worked with Professor Norimichi Hirano both as a researcher and graduate student. In 2009, he won the prestigious JASSO post-doctoral fellowship and successfully investigated De Figuerido’s work in Hamiltonian Elliptic Systems at Yokohama National University. Professor Shilgba is also a graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (Nigeria), where he emerged the best mathematics graduate in 1992, and was awarded the University graduate fellowship for an MS degree in Mathematics (Functional Analysis). He has more than 24 years of teaching, research, and administrative experience at the university level.
