The Acting Vice Chancellor of Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), Professor Dili Ofuokwu, charged the Nigerian Navy personnel and ADUN Security on campus to maintain the discipline and cleanliness for which the Navy is known while carrying out their responsibilities of securing the institution and the neighbouring communities, ensuring peace and order at all times.
While on a facility tour of the University on April 24, 2024, Professor Ofuokwu told the security personnel that loyalty to ADUN and the Navy is paramount. He assured them that the institution will always strive to make their welfare and well-being a top priority.
Responding on behalf of his team, The Intelligence Officer (OIC), Lt. Ojiemeka, briefed the VC on intelligence-related matters and informed him about the following:
Regular patrols with officers at designated intervals,
Manning of all security posts across the University,
The need for regular stop-and-search procedures and other security routines,
Lieutenant Ojiemeka emphasized the importance of these measures in maintaining a cordial military-civilian relationship while ensuring security for both the University and the host community.
The Acting Vice Chancellor and his team of Principal and Senior Officers then proceeded to inspect the 30 waste bins recently purchased by the university’s Procurement Unit with management’s approval. The Bursar and the Director of Works and Physical Planning accompanied the VC during the inspection of the moveable bins.
The VC acknowledged the efforts taken to acquire the waste bins, aligning with the ideals of ADUN and the Navy to maintain a clean and serene environment conducive to learning and living. He encouraged the workers to ensure the constant upkeep of the environment.
The team then moved on to the maintenance unit where motorized slashing machines were undergoing maintenance. Following the inspection, the VC instructed the technical team to ensure regular servicing of the machines to maintain optimal functionality. This will ensure that the grass is kept low, contributing to the serenity of the campus and upholding ADUN’s standards.
The VC’s visit continued at the University’s power generation house. Guided by the Director of Works, the team viewed the three generators that power the entire campus: one 100kVA and two 800kVA generators. These generators provide alternative electricity and ensure a constant water supply. The VC inspected the diesel tank, the step-down transformer, and the treated water stand.
Professor Ofuokwu, along with his team, also inspected all vehicles available on campus for effective transportation scheduling and concluded the tour by examining the CCTV cameras at the security post.
